In Ummah for Earth, we believe that one of the pillars of this right path is adopting an eco-friendly and sustainable lifestyle, living in harmony with Earth, and protecting the environment.
Ramadan can be the starting point, and Imams can be the catalyst of this Green approach.
To serve this purpose, we would like to send as Ummah for Earth, a green letter to Imams that includes your demands as well.

My Green Letter to Imams
| Dear Imam, السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته. You are receiving this letter from Ummah for Earth and its friends and supporters all over Muslim communities to kindly ask you to guide people to have an environmentally friendly Ramadan! The people who chose to participate in writing this letter want you to help to mobilize Muslim communities to protect the environment. We think you can play a crucial role as an Imam to achieve that! As we are experiencing the holy month of Ramadan, we find it to be the right moment to start encouraging people to take on eco-friendly lifestyles and implement green initiatives that benefit our societies and the planet. We want to dedicate this moment of worship to act as stewards on this Earth with balance and wisdom. With your paradigm, with your help, with your engagement, with your participation, and with your guidance you can inspire more and more people to live in harmony with Earth! There are so many things that you can do as Imams to inspire and motivate your communities to engage in little changes for an environmental way of living. Together, our choices can amount to monumental change. Every little bit helps. As Imams, we ask you to lead by example and: ….. ﴿شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنُ هُدًى لِلنَّاسِ وَبَيِّنَاتٍ مِنَ الْهُدَىٰ وَالْفُرْقَانِ ۚ فَمَنْ شَهِدَ مِنْكُمُ الشَّهْرَ فَلْيَصُمْهُ ۖ وَمَنْ كَانَ مَرِيضًا أَوْ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَ ۗ يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ بِكُمُ الْيُسْرَ وَلَا يُرِيدُ بِكُمُ الْعُسْرَ وَلِتُكْمِلُوا الْعِدَّةَ وَلِتُكَبِّرُوا اللَّهَ عَلَىٰ مَا هَدَاكُمْ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ (185)﴾. The month of Ramaḍān [is that] in which was revealed the Qur’ān, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [the crescent of] the month,1 let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey – then an equal number of other days. Allāh intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allāh for that [to] which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful. — Saheeh International |
